Mexico proceeding with biotech ban

Mexico’s deputy agriculture minister last week said the country is looking for alternatives to corn imports from the United States as it prepares to implement a 2024 ban on many genetically modified corn hybrids. 

Deputy Agriculture Minister Victor Suarez told Reuters that the biotech corn ban wouldn’t be amended, despite earlier assurances given to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack that it wouldn’t affect imports of corn for livestock feed from the U.S.
