4 ONLINE ACCESS, EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS, ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES, E-STATEMENTS AND SMS TEXTING

Online Access.

For some Online Activities, Farm Bureau permits "Online Access," which includes the ability to use a personal computer, mobile or other access device equipped with an active connection to the Internet to create and access a Farm Bureau account and to perform certain transactions as available. Only one account is allowed per individual.

By electing to enroll in Online Activities, including but not limited to e-statements (described below), you certify that you are the person identified by your enrollment information. If you are not that person and/or you are attempting to access someone else's information, you are in violation of federal and/or state law and should exit this application now. Violations will be reported to state and/or federal authorities.

In order to conduct some Online Activities, you agree to receive information applicable to your use of the Online Activities delivered to you electronically. These may include registrations, billings and payments, updates, notifications, membership documents, or other information that you request, transaction receipts, or any other documents ("Communications").

Your consent does not mean that Farm Bureau must provide the Communications electronically; Farm Bureau may, at its option, provide the Communications through non-electronic means. As part of the Online Activities, many of these Communications are made available to you in non-electronic form. If you wish to withdraw your consent to receive information electronically through your use of the Online Activities, you may discontinue your use of the Online Access.

Email Communications.

We may collect your email address through your voluntary actions on our Website, including but not limited to your registration for Online Access, response to a survey, registration for an event, application for a grant, subscription to group email, renewal of your membership, or other Online Activities.  If you supply us with your email address you may receive emails from us with information related to your Online Activities.  You may also receive periodic email messages from us on other topics, such as benefits and services, meetings and events, legislative issues, advocacy alerts, election information, county Farm Bureau information, or other information which we believe may be valuable to you.

Email Communication Preferences and Unsubscribe (Withdrawing Consent).

As part of Online Access, you are given the ability to manage your email communication preferences, which may include the ability to manage the following:

  • email subscriptions by category,
  • email news subscriptions by topic,
  • and e-statements.

Farm Bureau may continue to deliver Communications to you electronically unless you withdraw your consent by unsubscribing. If you unsubscribe, the legal effectiveness, validity and/or enforceability of prior Communications will not be affected. Any withdrawal of your consent to receive Communications electronically will be effective only after we have a reasonable period of time to process your withdrawal.

To manage your Communication Preferences, subscribe and unsubscribe:

  1. login to your online account, or create one on iowafarmbureau.com if you do not already have one.
  2. Navigate to the Communication Preferences webpage.
  3. Select or unselect each communication type to subscribe or unsubscribe.

Alternatively, you may click on the link at the bottom of the email to “unsubscribe” to future Communications of a given category or topic.

Or, you may contact your county Farm Bureau office or the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and ask to be removed from a specific category or all future emails.

Electronic Signatures.

As part of the Online Activities, you may be given the option to sign certain Communications electronically by either checking the appropriate box or engaging in a similar online process as instructed online. You agree that by checking the appropriate box within or adjacent to the applicable Communication or engaging in a similar online electronic signature process, you are providing your electronic signature and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions in such Communication just as if you had signed your name to a paper document.

System Requirements for Access.

To obtain Online Access you will need:

  • a personal computer or other access device with Internet access,
  • a web browser which is capable of supporting 128-bit SSL encryption,
  • a unique email address, (email addresses already associated with another user cannot be used)

To receive, access, and reply to applicable Communications you will need:

  • software that provides access to emails sent to your email address,
  • software that lets you get and open Portable Document Format or "PDF" files, and
  • the ability to download or print agreements and disclosures.

System Requirements to Retain Information.

To retain the Communications sent to you electronically for your records, your system must have the ability to either download (e.g., to your hard disk drive, thumb drive/flash drive, etc.), print PDF files, or print web pages and embedded HTML files. In some cases, you may need to print, complete, and sign Communications with a pen, and then return them to Farm Bureau according to the instructions on the document. To do this, you must have a functioning printer connected to your personal computer or other access device which is able to print Communications and the instructions on plain, white 8½ x 11 inch paper.

Should we make changes to the hardware or software requirements for Online Activities such that you may no longer be capable of accessing your documents or Communications, we will inform you in advance of the revised hardware and software requirements via an update to these Terms and Conditions.

E-Statements.

As part of the Online Activities, you have the option to enroll in our paperless feature (“e-statements”). By enrolling in e-statements, you agree to access billing statements and other documents electronically in lieu of delivery by the United States Postal Service (USPS) or other physical delivery method; provided, however, that, as required by law, we will deliver certain documents, in paper format via the USPS. However, if the law changes in the future and permits such documents to be delivered electronically, your continued use of the WEBSITE shall act as your consent to receive such Communications electronically as well.

Please read the following additional e-statement Terms and Conditions carefully. By electing to enroll in e-statements, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree with any of these terms and conditions, do not enroll in e-statements. We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued participation in e-statements following the posting of the modified Terms and Conditions will constitute your acceptance of any revisions to these Terms and Conditions.

Your E-Statement Responsibilities.

Once you enroll in e-statements, it is your sole responsibility to keep your e-mail address up to date within your online profile. It is also your responsibility to keep your e-mail address active and capable of receiving new e-mails. To do this, ensure that your e-mail account has sufficient space for new e-mails and that your e-mail server and spam-blocking software do not block our e-mails. We are not responsible for problems arising from e-mails sent to an inactive or out-of-date email address.  You agree that if we send an email message to you regarding any Communication or send any Communication to the email address you have provided us and such email message is returned as undeliverable, we will be deemed to have provided such Communication to you.

Enrollment in E-Statements.

To enroll in e-statements, you must:

  1. Log in and register on iowafarmbureau.com using your membership number if you have not already established an online account;
  2. Navigate to the Communications Preferences webpage.
  3. Review the Terms and Conditions for e-statements.
  4. Click the e-statements checkbox to accept the Terms and Conditions and sign up for e-statements.

Unenrolling from e-Statements.

You may unenroll from e-statements at any time. Upon unenrolling, all documents will be mailed to you via the USPS (please allow up to 72 hours to process your unenrollment). If you choose to unenroll from e-statements, you may unenroll by doing either of the following:

  • Logging in to your account, navigate to the Communication Preferences webpage, and change your preference from e-statements.
  • Or, you may contact your county Farm Bureau office or the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and ask to be removed from e-statements.

SMS Texting.

Farm Bureau may offer subscription text message programs. Text messages may contain marketing or promotional material. Individuals may sign up for text messages in one of the following ways:

  • Email your county Farm Bureau office and ask to be enrolled in our text messaging service.
  • Subscribe to text messages during your Online Activities, including but not limited to your registration for

Online Access, response to a survey, registration for an event, application for a grant, subscription to group email, renewal of your membership, or other Online Activities.

  • Login to your Online Access, navigate to the Communication Preferences webpage, and update your text message preference.
  • Send a text message with the word START to 515-203-8470.

Farm Bureau may use an automatic messaging system to deliver text messages to you. By your subscription to any Farm Bureau text message program, you give your consent to Farm Bureau to use an automatic messaging system to deliver text messages to the telephone or cell phone number to which you have directed Farm Bureau to transmit these text messages.

Farm Bureau reserves the right to terminate this SMS texting service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice. The information in any message may be subject to certain time lags and/or delays. You are responsible for managing the types of SMS texts you receive. If you have any questions or need help, please contact your county Farm Bureau or the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.

Charges for SMS Texts.

Farm Bureau does not have a separate charge for the text message service; however, message and data rates may apply from your wireless service provider. By providing your consent to participate in text messaging, you approve any such charges from your service provider. Charges for text messages may appear on your mobile phone bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance.

Unsubscribing to SMS Texts.

To stop receiving text messages, text STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to 515-203-8470. By enrolling in this subscription program, you consent that following such a request to unsubscribe, you will receive one (1) final message from Farm Bureau confirming that you have been inactivated in our system. Following such confirmation message, no additional text messages will be sent unless you re-activate your subscription by texting START to the same number.

Your SMS Texting Responsibilities.

  • Changes to your wireless number. If your wireless number changes while you are enrolled in text messaging, you are responsible for updating your information with us. You may update this information by logging onto www.iowafarmbureau.com and updating your communication preferences, or by calling your county Farm Bureau or the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
  • Canceled contracts and stolen phones. You must unsubscribe from text messaging if you discontinue your phone service or lose your mobile phone.
  • Wireless service provider compatibility. It is your responsibility to confirm your wireless service provider is compatible with Farm Bureau text messaging. You may do this by confirming receipt of a text message from Farm Bureau when you enroll in text messaging, or by texting “TEST” to 515-203-8470.

SMS Texting Additional Limitations of Liability.

There are a number of factors outside of our control that can impact or delay the delivery of your text messages. These factors may include restrictions made by your wireless service provider and disruptions to your wireless service. Text messages are provided for your convenience. We do not assume any liability or responsibility for a failure or delay in transmitting the text messages to you or for any errors in the information contained in the text messages.

We also do not assume any liability for any losses or damage (a) caused by the disclosure of information to your mobile phone when the phone is in another person's possession; or (b) to your data, mobile phone or other equipment caused by the use of text messaging, unless directly and solely caused by our negligence or willful default. Additionally, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold Farm Bureau harmless from and against any claims, losses or costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your provision of a phone number that is not your own or your violation of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Information Storage Authorization.

You authorize Farm Bureau to store any information you provide, including, but not limited to, names, addresses, birth dates, phone numbers, bank account or payment card information.

You certify that you are the owner or authorized signer for any bank account or payment card you provide, and you authorize the financial institution where any such bank account or payment card is held to honor any withdrawals or charges you authorize.
