A union representing ­railroad employees who build and maintain tracks said last week its members rejected the tentative contract deal with a committee re­presenting major U.S. freight railroads, Reuters reported.

The Brotherhood of Mainten­ance of Way Employees, representing more than 11,000 workers, rejected the proposal, saying the railroads didn’t do enough to address lack of time off and working conditions. So far, only four of the 12 unions have ratified the agreement.
