Farmers need Congress to pass legislation preventing state and local governments from interfering with livestock production in other states, Iowa Farm Bureau District 3 Director Matt Schuiteman said last week in a House Agriculture Committee hearing. 

Schuiteman, who raises pigs on his Sioux County farm, testified along with five other witnesses at a committee hearing on the implications of California’s Proposition 12, which dictates production methods that farmers must follow to sell their pork in California.
