During the 2020 Iowa legislative session, which begins Jan. 13, Farm Bureau members will focus on protecting property taxpayers, which includes removing the costs of Iowa’s mental health system from the backs of property taxpayers. Members will also work with lawmakers to develop state programs to help maintain the availability of private practice food animal veterinarians in rural Iowa; work to develop a farm driver’s permit for minors; continue the momentum in conservation and water quality through the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy; as well as focusing on other key agricultural issues in the state.
