Iowa farm family concerns were well represented last week as the graduating class of Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s (IFBF) Ag Leader program visited Washington to meet legislators and agency officials.

“We are working together as a collective voice for agriculture and try to move the needle on some of these issues,” said Hamilton County Farm Bureau member Wyatt Saeugling.

The high point of the trip came Sept. 13 when the Ag Leaders class met with Sens. Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst, along with Iowa representatives in the U.S. House.

Cattle bill support
Members offered Grassley support for the Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act, which he co-sponsored with Sen. Deb Fischer of Nebraska. The legislation aims to increase price discovery for those selling cattle on the open market.
