Trade, transportation and the farm bill will continue to be key national issues for agriculture as the calendar flips to 2023, according to American Farm Bureau Economist Danny Munch.

The makeup of the House Agriculture Committee will shift slightly with Republicans taking control of the majority, putting Rep. Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania in charge as committee chair. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan will remain as chair of the Senate Ag Committee.

The split power will lead to an interesting dynamic in regard to farm bill funding priorities, Munch said at Iowa Farm Bureau’s annual meeting Dec. 7.
