Senator proposes raising CRP cap

South Dakota Sen. John Thune last week proposed raising the acreage cap on the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).

Thune, who serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee, proposed raising the CRP cap to 30 million acres, from the current 24 million, and expanding haying and grazing opportunities on land under a contract.
