U.S. ag markets remain healthy and should be profitable into 2023 despite the rising costs of inputs such as fertilizer, inflationary concerns, and transportation and logistics challenges.

That’s the assessment from Joe Kerns, president of Kerns and Associates, who addressed an engaged group of Iowa farmers at Iowa Farm Bureau’s annual meeting Dec. 7. Kerns said there’s room for market confidence moving forward.

“It’s a very healthy state as we sit,” Kerns said. “I think we have reason to be optimistic.

“I really like the prospects of profitability for nearly every sector in ag, both on the agronomic as well as the livestock side.”
