Iowa Farm Bureau will host timely, informative events in February throughout the state in cooperation with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.  The day is designed for Iowa farmers to help them navigate through the continued pressure on operating margins.  

The educational events will begin at each location below:  Doors open at 9:30 am, the program begins at 10:00 am and will conclude by 3:00 pm on the following dates:

  • Thursday, February 2, Nevada, CNH Industrial Ag Information Training Center, Classroom A, 23942 590th Avenue.
  • Monday, February 6, Atlantic, Cass County Community Center, 805 W 10th Street
  • Tuesday, February 7, Storm Lake, Knights of Columbus Hall, 1507 E Lakeshore Drive
  • Monday, February 20, Washington, Washington County Fairgrounds, Dallmeyer Hall, 661 Highway 1 South
  • Tuesday, February 21, Independence, Heartland Acres Agribition Center, 2600 Swan Lake Boulevard

Participants will hear in-person presentations on the following topics: 

Margin Management Strategies    Ideas on business concepts in challenging times.   What are some strategies to consider when managing a farming operation in these margin tightening times?     

2023 Crop Risk Management    Learn from example crop marketing plans from a 30-year history of results!   Crop marketing does not have to be a complicated job.          

Ag Lender Communication & Expectations    Ag lender(s) will discuss an optimal client/lender relationship looks like, how a lender can be involved in business decisions and important conversations to have with your lender about your goals. 

Ag Carbon Markets Economics Simulation    The key question not often talked about is will ag carbon market programs be a net return for the farmer!   This simulation will help to answer that question with a menu of carbon programs based on expected net returns from expected carbon sequestration over the life of the contract.
