The Iowa Farm Bureau urged the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) to consider pipeline safety when making a decision about carbon sequestration pipeline location and routes. The carbon dioxide pipeline companies contend that federal law preempts the state from considering any issue that can be viewed as related to safety. 

The issues were raised during proceedings for the Summit Carbon Solutions (“Summit”) pipeline project.
