Corn Futures top $6.50 a bushel
Corn prices for May delivery ended last week’s close to $6.50 a bushel, prices not seen since 2013.
“Prices have nearly doubled in the last year as China scooped up massive amounts of the grain to replenish pig herds that were decimated by the deadly African swine fever,” Bloomberg reported last week.
With both corn and soybean prices surging (soybeans remained over $15 per bushel last week), China ordered a reformulation of animal feed to reduce use.
