The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will allocate an additional $35 million in grants to expand fertilizer capacity in seven states, including Iowa.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced the grant initiative during the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone last month.
“Since I’m at the Farm Progress Show, we obviously want to announce some progress,” Vilsack said Aug. 28.
“We are pleased to announce a continuation of our effort to expand fertilizer production in this country so we are more self-reliant and more dependent on our own capacities as opposed to capacities from some other countries.
