U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue last week announ­ced a far-reaching reorganization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), creating new offices for ag production and conservation that will be the department’s primary point of contact with farmers and an office for trade.

The new ag production and conservation office will focus on domestic agricultural issues and will include the Farm Service Agency (FSA), the Risk Management Agency (RMA) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). It is designed to provide a simplified one-stop shop for farmers dealing with farm safety net and conservation plans.
