With nearly one-half of Iowa farm income derived from the livestock sector, Iowa State University’s (ISU) Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory provides critical services in support of the state’s livestock farmers as well as training new veterinarians and scientists.

ISU celebrated the completion of the first phase of construction of a state-of-the-art Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (VDL) building last month and also marked the start of construction on the second phase of the project.

Construction on the first phase of the VDL facility started in March 2021, and it became operational this spring when front-end services including receiving, sample processing, pathology, histopathology, bacteriology and other sections moved into the new building....
