The total U.S. hog herd grew 5% in the second quarter of 2020, ac­cording to the June Hog and Pigs Report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). 

At the same time, a new analysis suggests as many as 2 million hogs are backed up on U.S. farms because of coronavirus slowdowns and shutdowns at meatpacking plants, Successful Farming reported last week.
