The U.S. inventory of all hogs and pigs on Dec. 1 was 75 million head, with nearly one-third of that total in Iowa. Total inventory was up less than 1% from Dec. 1, 2022, but down slightly from the previous reading on Sept. 1, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report, released last week.
