U.S. farmers are expected to cultivate 227 million acres of corn, soybeans and wheat this year, the most since 2016 and 8.6 million more acres than were seeded in 2020. 

Soybeans are projected to lead the gains, with 90 million acres expected nationally, compared to 83.1 million last year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Grains and Oilseeds Outlook re­­leased last week.

Projected corn planted acres moved up 1 million to 92 million acres in 2021.
