Eligible farm owners are encouraged to apply for the 2018 Century and Heritage Farm awards. These awards are sponsored by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau. They recognize families that have owned their farm for 100 years (in the case of Century Farms) and 150 years (for Heritage Farms).

The Century Farm awards started in 1976. To date, more than 19,000 farms from across Iowa have received this recognition. The Heritage Farm awards started in 2006, and more than 1,000 farms have been recognized. Last year 354 Century Farms and 119 Heritage Farms were recognized.

2018 Century and Heritage Farms will be recognized during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair on Thursday, August 16.
