U.S. Growing season weather still critical

We are now entering one of the most critical times of the year for crop development, especially for corn. The U.S corn crop is set to enter the very important pollination and ear fill stage of growth.

Several agronomists will tell you that corn yield can be made or lost during this period, and pollination can be just as important as all stages up to this point. Others claim that given today’s genetic improvements, corn is less susceptible to stressful weather during pollination but doesn’t totally eliminate its impact.

If we get through this period with low crop stress, we will see the risk premium start to leak out of the market.
