Opening trade with Cuba could bring an increase of $1 billion per year in agriculture exports, according to experts at a workshop last week at the American Farm Bureau 2017 annual convention in Phoenix.

Dr. Steven Zahniser, an ec­­onomist at the Agriculture Depart­ment’s Economic Research Serv­ice, said growth in U.S. agricultural trade with Cuba remains limited, primarily because credit restrictions are putting U.S. products at a disadvantage.
