Manure is an important nutrient source for Iowa crops and should be treated as a valuable resource. When managed correctly, farmers can capture that value for soil health and crop production, experts said last week at a manure workshop in Carroll sponsored by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF).

"You can get value out of manure, but you have to treat it like a commercial fertilizer, you can’t treat it like manure," said Abe Sandquist of Natural Fertilizer Services Inc.
