Virginia farmer hauls in record corn yield of 542 bushels

Virginia farmer David Hula set a world corn yield record of 542 bushels per acre in this year’s National Corn Yield Contest, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) announced last week.
Hula, who farms near Charles City, Virginia, broke the record of 532 bushels per acre that he previously set in 2015. He planted Pioneer P1197AM brand corn for this year’s winning entry, which topped the no-till/strip-till irrigated category.
