U.S. corn growers are on track to shatter production records in 2025, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that forecasts a bumper crop, record yields and a sharp drop in market prices. 

The USDA’s August crop production report projects a record U.S. corn crop of 16.7 billion bushels and a record yield of 188.8 bushels per acre. The new forecast represents an increase of more than 1 billion bushels from the USDA’s previous estimate and surpasses the former record of 15.34 billion bushels from the 2023-24 crop year.
