U.S.-China trade deal still moving forward
President Donald Trump said last week that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping will sign a “Phase One” trade deal soon, despite the cancellation of a planned summit in Chile set for mid-November. Reuters reports the White House indicated a signing event will take place in the same time frame as the originally scheduled summit.
China’s commerce ministry said in a statement last week that bilateral talks continue and the lead trade negotiators from both countries planned to speak by telephone.
