Tyson Foods Inc. introduced its first plant-based meat alternative product and additional meat-and-plant blended products on June 13.

The new products include plant-based nuggets, made from a blend of pea protein isolate and other plant ingredients, the company said. The nuggets are slated for a late summer release.

A blended burger is also planned, made with Angus beef and pea protein isolate, promising fewer calories and less saturated fat than the plant-based burgers sold by competing brands, the news release stated. The burger will be available this fall.
