The oil industry is digging deep into its bag of tricks after the Environmental Protection Ag­­ency (EPA) recently reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in a pair of recent decisions.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is seeking a waiver of RFS blending requirements for his state, claiming the program is negatively impacting the state’s economy and employment.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolfe asked for a similar waiver in November.

Texas previously sought a waiver from RFS blending requirements in 2008, which the EPA denied.
