Texas seeking waiver from RFS blending requirements

The oil industry is digging deep into its bag of tricks after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in a pair of recent decisions.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is seeking a waiver of RFS blending requirements for his state, claiming the program is negatively impacting the state’s economy and employment.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolfe asked for a similar waiver in November.
Texas previously sought a waiver from RFS blending requirements in 2008, which the EPA denied.
