Survey suggests big shift into soybeans

U.S. farmers could plant more soybeans than corn for the first time since 1983, according to a survey by AgriSource in conjunction with the Iowa Power Farming Show. Corn acres dropped steeply in 1983 when the Payment-in-Kind (PIK) program paid farmers to take land out of production in an effort to reduce crop surpluses.
