The United States has requested dispute settlement consultations with Mexico under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) regarding Mexico’s measures on agricultural biotechnology products.

This action comes in response to Mexico’s decree that bans the use of biotech corn in all products for human consumption.

In filing the dispute last week, the U.S. said it believes Mexico’s measures conflict with obligations in the USMCA.
