Bountiful supplies this fall are likely to keep pressure on corn and soybean prices well into 2018. But it’s been a very different, and much more positive, story in the cattle and hog markets, according to Iowa State University (ISU) Extension economists.

Supplies of pork and beef are also relatively high going into the new year. But strong demand in both export and domestic markets has supported livestock prices and is giving many farmers a chance to see some profits, the economists said last week at ISU Extension’s Pro-Ag Outlook sessions, which are being held around the state through early December.
