“Overall, we got a good quality third cutting hay,” Boettcher said Sept. 8. While the quality was good, finding the right time to cut was a challenge. “We had difficulties getting it put up because of dew in the morning. It would take half a day to dry the tops off.” A late spring means they won’t likely get a fourth cutting. Silage chopping is also under way.
