A lot of area farmers are done chopping silage or just finishing up, Hoffman said Aug. 26. “A lot of corn is turning. Some ears are tipping down,” he said. “I would guess in two weeks we might be nosing around in some corn.” He had 0.8 inch of rain the previous weekend, while 2 to 3 inches fell 8 miles to the south. “Beans were starting to give up before the rain,” he said.
