“It finally rained here over the last two weeks,” Fehr said Aug. 24. The rain, as much as 8 inches in some areas, was probably too late for corn but should help the soybeans, he said. High winds also caused some isolated crop damage, Fehr said. “There is going to be some tangled corn at harvest.” Corn is just starting to show signs of changing color, while beans remain green, he said.
