“We got about an inch of rain this morning,” Dreith said Aug. 16. “It’ll help the beans a lot. They’re full of pods.” Corn maturity is variable depending on planting conditions and nitrogen loss from excessive early-season rains. “There’s not a lot of uniformity. The field across the road looks pretty green. Down the road, it looks like it’s really changing.” Insect pressure is light.
