As Hawkeye fans gear up to head back to Kinnick Stadium, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) and University of Iowa Hawkeyes are teaming up to celebrate Iowa’s farmers during the 10th annual America Needs Farmers (ANF) Game Day on Oct. 9. As the Hawks take on the Penn State Nittany Lions, one lucky fan will win the experience of a lifetime including four tickets to the ANF game, on-field sideline access, a football autographed by Coach Kirk Ferentz and ANF gear.

For a chance to win, go to and take a short, multiple-choice quiz to see how Iowa farmers are providing our daily diets with high quality proteins while also responsibly caring for the environment and their animals. The contest will run Aug. 30 through Sept. 30 with the winner announced shortly after. Fans can enter every day of the contest period, with one daily entry per valid email address.

“While the America Needs Farmers campaign was launched by legendary Hawkeye Coach Hayden Fry to show support of farmers during the 1980s Farm Crisis, the sentiment of ANF continues to ring true today. Iowa farmers account for less than 5% of our state’s population, but agriculture is responsible for one in five jobs in our state, and the positive impact of farmers and agriculture in our communities and food system is seen throughout our state, nation and globe,” said IFBF President Craig Hill. “We know Iowans especially appreciate the real meat farmers raise, and that’s true during football season when grills and smokers are staples of a good tailgate. This contest, along with our farmer volunteers interacting with football fans at the ANF Legends Tent, helps bring light to the innovative ways farmers care for their livestock, putting animal health and protecting the environment at the forefront of everything they do.”

During ANF Game Day, fans can stop by the ANF Legends Tent at Krause Family Plaza to meet the farmers who grow and raise their food, play games to win great prizes and get autographs from former Hawkeye and NFL Greats, including this year’s ANF Wall of Honoree, a native Iowan and former Hawkeye standout who will be announced later this week. ANF merchandise will also be for sale in ANF Plaza with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Iowa Food Bank Association. For more information, visit
