IFBF, others criticize EPA’s biofuel plan
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to scale back the amount of ethanol required to be blended into the nation’s gasoline supply through the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) will hurt rural economic development, make the country less energy secure and raise prices for all American consumers, according to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF). The agency’s proposal will also severely harm the development of the next generation of cellulosic-based biofuels and goes against the intent of Congress, the organization said in written comments about the EPA’s proposal.
