IFBF: Update NAFTA but protect benefits to agriculture

There are clear opportunities to update, modernize and improve the 23-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Craig Hill, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) president, said last week in comments to Trump administration officials about the future of the trade agreement.
However, Hill stressed, any changes to NAFTA should protect the unquestioned benefits it has provided for farmers by opening markets in Canada and Mexico and helping to increase exports of corn, soybeans, pork, beef and other products, Hill said.
