DNR Meetings Begin Feb. 20 for Public Input into 2019-20 Hunting Seasons

Iowans can provide comments to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on the 2019-2020 hunting seasons at a series of 18 public meetings around Iowa Feb. 20-March 7. The series of public meetings will replace the single Iowa Communications Network listening session held in late winter in recent years.

DNR staff will be at the public meetings to review the last year's hunting seasons, and discuss possible changes to this year's hunting rules and regulations. Comments collected from the meetings will be considered by the DNR when it establishes this year's hunting seasons.

“We want people to come out to these meetings, listen to the hunting seasons reviews, ask questions and hear directly from our staff,” says Todd Bishop, chief of the Iowa DNR’s Wildlife Bureau. “Part of the meeting will be devoted to discussing potential rule changes and collecting feedback as we work through the rules process.”

Proposed rules will be presented to the Natural Resource Commission during one of their regular monthly meetings this spring.
