Cattle farmers support reinstating state checkoff

Iowa cattle farmers have voted to reinstate the state’s 50-cent-per-head beef checkoff, according to preliminary results of the checkoff referendum held on Nov. 30.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) announced last week that 56 percent of those voting supported the checkoff. A simple majority was needed for passage.
