What a new tax bill could mean for ag


Recent headlines spanning agricultural and equity markets have focused on the introduction of President Donald Trump’s "one, big, beautiful bill," which has begun its committee approval process on its way to the full U.S. House for a vote in the near future.

The 389-page bill, introduced by House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson of Pennsylvania, focuses mainly on tax cuts and related legislation but also contains several items related to agriculture.

Most notable, or at least most contentious, is a proposed cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding, which provides benefits and food aid to more than 40 million Americans.
