Weekly crop updates set to resume

In another sign of the spring season quickly approaching in the Midwest, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is set to resume releasing its weekly crop progress updates on April 7.

The reports will begin with mostly wheat data for the first couple of weeks and then will transition to include more corn and soybean data as it becomes available later in the month.

In the meantime, the agency will release winter wheat data for a select group of states for one more week, which it has been doing through the winter months since November. There is no national-level figure given in these reports, but we will look at some of the recent state-level data in this writing and see how things have been going through the winter months.
