Canadian wildfire risk again to be elevated in 2025

Just two years after one of the worst smoke and fire seasons through the Canadian woodlands in recorded history, experts are again sounding alarm bells over elevated risks of similar conditions occurring this summer. The year has already gotten off to a poor start, with Canadian government data showing 78 uncontrolled fires burning as of early June, with another 64 controlled. This compares to just nine uncontrolled and 56 controlled during the same week in 2024.
