Ames company working to develop ASF vaccine

Ames-based Genvax Technologies last week got a boost toward efforts to develop a safe and effective vaccine that protects against African swine fever (ASF), the deadly pig disease that has decimated hog herds around the world.
The vaccine company was awarded a $145,000 grant from the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR). Genvax will match the funds, putting a total of $290,000 toward the research.
