Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.10 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $82.49.
- Brent crude oil rose $3.34 and currently priced at $84.63.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $53.21 and Brent crude was at $55.98.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, January 12, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.08 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices rose 2 cents from last week’s price and 85 cents higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $3.30, up 1 cent from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 5 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.38.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.48 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 21 cents less than the national average of $3.59.
- Wholesale ethanol rose 2 cents and is currently priced at $2.16.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.30 for U87-E10, $2.53 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.54 for ULSD#2, $2.78 for ULSD#1, and $2.25 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Propane prices were down 2 cents with a statewide average of $1.87 per gallon.
- Home heating oil prices fell 4 cents, with a statewide average of $2.92 per gallon.
- Natural gas prices rose 81 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $4.64/MMbtu.
