The United States Supreme Court last week upheld a California law banning the sale of pork products that aren’t raised according to the state’s arbitrary minimum space requirements for livestock and poultry. The American Farm Bureau Federation and National Pork Producers Council argued California’s Proposition 12 violates the U.S. Constitution’s Commerce Clause, which restricts states from regulating commerce outside their borders.
