International trip gives Kirkwood Community College students a global perspective.

Kirkwood Community College agriculture students gained a firsthand lesson in how Iowa family farms fit into a rapidly evolving global agricultural economy during their biennial spring trip to Brazil in March.

Through a longstanding partnership with the Gammon Institute in Lavras — highlighted by a visit to the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), one of Brazil’s top agricultural universities — Kirkwood is giving students more than just international travel experience. 

The program offers a deeper understanding of global farming systems and their connection to Iowa agriculture.
