Northey: USDA wants to improve reports

The Agriculture Department is coordinating efforts across multiple agencies to improve the accuracy of its yield and acreage reports, USDA Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation Bill Northey said last week.
Many farmers questioned the USDA’s planted acreage and yield estimates last year due to a higher than normal number of prevented planting acres, which made pinpointing actual planted acres difficult.
