Page County Farm Bureau mem­­bers Curtis and Brenda Meier knew about the Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award long before they were recognized with the award last week on their farm near Clarinda.

Curtis was president of the Iowa Pork Producer’s Association and conducted several interviews with WHO radio farm broadcaster Gary Wergin, for whom the award was renamed. Wergin created the Good Farm Neighbor Award as a way to recognize Iowa farmers who are good neighbors, and the award was renamed in his honor after his death following a battle with cancer.
