Kossuth tops country in corn output, census shows

Kossuth County ranked as the top corn-producing county in the United States in 2012, according to final 2012 Census of Agriculture data released last week.
Farmers in Kossuth County produced 52.6 million bushels of corn in 2012, a year when drought riddled much of the Midwest.
Meanwhile, Sioux County ranked third nationally with 3.2 million head of hogs and pigs sold in 2012.
