According to the July 2016 Cattle on Feed report, the inventory in feedlots of 1,000 or more head was up 1% from last year at this time, with 10.4 million head. Iowa was the 5th largest state for cattle on feed and recorded 610,000 head which was a 5% decline from this time last year. Texas, Nebraska, and Kansas led the way with over 2 million head each. While Arizona and Oklahoma have lower numbers of cattle on feed, both states saw a 19% increase compared to July of last year.
